Daily Life in Retreat

Each retreat centre consists of a group of eleven to fifteen men or women. It is comprised of individual meditation cells, a temple, a yoga room, a kitchen, a dining room and a garden for relaxation. Two retreatants per group are responsible for the cooking and shopping, and two general caretakers are organise all of the centres' purchases.

 

  The retreat day is composed of four three-hour sessions of individual practice, each following a predetermined programme. The Mahakala ritual for the protection of the Dharma is performed every evening by each group. Other rituals take place on specific days according to the traditional calendar. Retreatants take their meals together and allocate the daily tasks amongst themselves.
