Kundrol Ling, 23 August 2004 Dear friends of Kundrol Ling, I wish to thank you sincerely for the indispensable support which you continue to grant Kundrol Ling. Without your generosity we cannot realize the mission with which Gendun Rinpoche and the Gyalwa Karmapa have entrusted us. In July 1997, a few months before he left his body, Gendun Rnpoche reminded us of the benefit of contributing to the construction of a temple at Kundrol Ling. “Sometimes beings, preoccupied by themselves, strive to accumulate money. They think to find happiness in this way. Because of the accumulation of negative karma and their confusion, their efforts are mostly in vain. They may even engender suffering.” “To participate in the construction of the temple of the Karmapa, in this perfectly pure and completely beneficial activity, generates an immense merit. This work will benefit everyone. It transcends the limits of egoistic interests. Even if the Investment is considerable, it is not motivated by a personal desire. This act of generosity is the support for the material and spiritual wellbeing of beings.” “The temple is a source of merit which will produce a benevolent energy. In the world, we build power plants for nuclear energy, but power plants for positive energy do not exist!” Where are we today? During the last months we have completed together the statues of the 2 disciples, 32 medallions, the stained glass windows, the mandala of the gathering of the Sangha, the 1000 wooden niches in front of the statues of the 1000 buddhas, as well as those of the great statue of Buddha Shakyamuni and the two disciples. In order to respond to the new security norms, two side doors were added to the main entrance, as well as a third one on the eastern wall. This door permits us to install an access for disabled people. The plasterwork on the outside walls is done. The hermitage Pende Ling was furnished with a room to welcome guests of honour. All of this could be done because of you, but also because of the contribution of the student practitioners who came to join us at Kundrol Ling. November 4th, the day of the exit of the groups of three year retreats is near. The interview rooms which have allowed us up until today to welcome you, will be occupied by the monastic drublas after the exit of retreat. However, each time you wish to have a private interview with one of our lamas, we wish to continue to be able to welcome you. For that reason, we need to furnish new rooms. We also need to finish the big shrine: statues of Chenrezig, Green Tara, frescoes of the Karmapa and Sharmapa lineage, ritual objects, wood sculptures.
How to help us? According to your possibilities, you can offer one Norbu (25 €) or several Norbu. Here a few examples:
