Kalachakra - sanskrit The name of a deity linked to a vast cycle of tantric teachings.

Karma - sanskrit " Action ". 'The Law of karma' or 'The Law of cause and effect' signifies the direct and infallible link between an action and its result. The result of a negative action is suffering. The result of a positive action is happiness. Furthermore the experiences of this life are the result of our past actions and our experiences of the future depend on our present actions.

Karma Kagyu - tibetan "The Oral Transmission lineage", also known as " The practice lineage ". One of the four principal schools of Tibetan Vajrayana buddhism (along with the Nyingma, Sakya and Gelug). It is characterised by its profound meditation techniques and the emphasis upon actual practice being more important than theoretical knowledge.

Karmapa - tibetan - Gyalwa Karmapa, His Holiness the Karmapa "The one who accomplishes enlightened activity." The Karmapa is a buddha who manifests in the human realm as a highly realised lama and the head of the Kagyu school of Tibetan Buddhism. He is considered to be an emanation of Chenrezig, the bodhisattva of compassion. He is particularly renowned as being the first tulku or reincarnate lama to appear in Tibet. The present incarnation is the 17th Karmapa Trinley Thaye Dorje.

Karmapa's Temple The name of Dhagpo Kundreul Ling's large temple which contains one thousand buddha statues corresponding to the thousand buddhas which will appear in this fortunate cosmic era. Buddha Shakyamuni is the fourth of these buddhas.

kaya ( the four) - sanskrit The four "bodies" or forms of enlightened expression of a buddha. They are - Dharmakaya, sambhogakaya, nirmanakaya, svabhavikakaya.
