The
next 3-year retreat
 |
|
In February
2005 a three-year, three-month and three-day-retreat
will begin in Dhagpo Kundreul Ling, in
Auvergne on Febuary 23th 2005. |
The eight centres for the first and second three-year retreat are set in Laussedat and Le Bost. They welcome men and women practitioners who aspire to receive and practise the teachings of the Buddha (Dharma).
Thus, the retreatants
have the possibility of carrying out an intensive
practice leading to a profound understanding
of Dharma. Their motivation is that of the "Bodhisattva",
which is to practise with the sole aim of
developing the necessary qualities so as
to help the others progress towards Enlightenment.
Untill 1997 the retreats were directed by Lama Guendune Rinpoche, an exceptional meditation master sent by the 16th Gyalwa Karmapa to establish the Dharma in Europe.

"Lama
Gendun Rinpoche is like Milarepa.
In his lifetime he has achieved the
state of Dorje Chang."
H.H.
the 16th Gyalwa Karmapa |
Nowadays the
six retreat masters (drupons) appointed by
Lama Gendun to succeed him are in charge
of the retreatants’ guidance, under
the spiritual authority of Kunzig Shamar
Rinpoche and of the 17th Gyalwa Karmapa.
This new retreat cycle will see the drupons supervising about a hundred retreatants, entering either a first or a second three-year retreat, who will have the exceptional opportunity to deepen their practice of the Karma Kagyu teachings.
Some of the retreatants are looking for benefactors
willing to sponsor them, either during the
whole course of the retreat, or on a occasional
basis. At present, some retreatants have not
been able to gather enough money to cover costs
(food, lodging, rituals, offerings, photocopies,
etc). For this 340 euros is required per person
and per month.
All financial contributions are welcome, whatever they may be. Lama Guendune used to encourage everyone to take part in this great undertaking for, as Milarepa used to say :
"There exists between the yogi and his benefactor a close bond, a profound connection which portends mutual Enlightenment."
Your financing them will be necessary from that date onwards.
